Kabul (BNA) Chairing the sub-committee meeting of the council of ministers on health affairs here on Tuesday at the Sapidar Palace, Chief Executive (CE) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah said establishment of independent health insurance office was people’s urgent need, a statement said.
The Ministry of Public Health briefed the session on establishment of the independent health insurance organization, saying they were currently working in coordination with international institutions on a plan to establish the health insurance agency, adding the plan includes legal aspects, organizational structures and institutionalization of the health insurance culture in the country, the statement from CE press office said.
The session also approved the Ministry of Public health’s proposal for resumption of issuing licenses to pharmacies under specific and restricted conditions, the statement added.
CE Abdullah instructed Ministry of Public Health to conduct a detailed assessment of districts and remote areas and issue new licenses as per need of the people.
Considering lack of people’s access to medicines in remote areas and inattention to this matter by the country’s laws, the council of ministers had earlier suspended issuing of licenses to pharmacies.
According to the sub-committee report regarding the private sector role in health affairs, there were serious problems existed in issuing of tariff and licenses, establishment of medicines industrial park and quality of the medicines.
The Chief Executive said the problems needed to be discussed and assed in private sector’s executive committee meeting of the Chief Executive Office, the statement added.
