Kabul (BNA) A number of the independent human rights commission members in a meeting with President Hamid Karzai asked for evaluating the ten years works of the commission and providing it with independent finance from the national budget so that to be protected from meddling of the foreigners, a presidential press statement office said.
Abdul Satar Saadat told at the meeting which was held at the presidential palace that he is not only opposing continuation of the work of the four members of the civil and human rights commission whose work period had been ended, but he asks for replacement of the entire commission members whose work time had been concluded, the statement quoted.
He said earlier the budget for the commission was not independent as it was sponsored by the foreigners-a problem prevented them to disclose the foreigner’s violations and raise their voice in this respect.
Meanwhile, Hosay Wardak also supported the decision but added those who are being replaced with the members of the independent human rights commission should respect human rights, be professional and not linked to any party.
Also, Aziz Rafi told the meeting that a mechanism should be established based on, those who are being assigned as the members for the commission should be aware of their responsibility as the commission is national establishment and shouldn’t become the victim of other’s interferences.
President Hamid Karzai called the entire presentations as wisely and added that the independent human rights commission was a national and important establishment that had faced ups and downs over the last ten years like other governmental establishments.
However assigning the members of the commission is my authority but I believe on the principal of consultation, so I want to take counsel with you in this respect and assign the members after you introduced the eligible candidates” the statement quoted President Karzai as saying adding that the budget of the commission would also be provided from the national budget so that to be protected from the foreigners negative interferences.
